Kennedy’s poll reported Vitter, a Republican from Metairie, solidly out front with 32 percent. Edwards, of Amite and the only Democrat in the race, maintained a healthy showing in second with 21 percent, but Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle, a Republican from Breaux Bridge, shook off his lackluster showing in recent polls to rise to just three points behind Edwards with 18 percent. Meanwhile, support for Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, a Republican from Baton Rouge, is in the low teens.
