SCOTT ANGELLE ANNOUNCES RUN FOR CONGRESS IN 3RD DISTRICT

Angelle, who is from Breaux Bridge, started out the governor’s race polling less than 2 percent, but came within 41,000 votes, out of 1.1 million cast Oct. 24, of beating Vitter for a slot in the November runoff.

The congressional elections are Nov. 8, 2016, with a runoff, if necessary, on Dec. 3.

“As your congressman,” Angelle said in his announcement, “I will defend the Second Amendment, protect the sanctity of life and fight for religious freedom. I will stand up for our brave law enforcement officers and I will never cave to political correctness. I’ll continue to be a partner to our coastal ports, support our local farmers, and work with our economic development partners to cut the red tape and allow job creation.”

LA Independent Study Group Wraps Up Seminar Series on Public Policy

LOUISIANA INDEPENDENT STUDY GROUP 

(FINAL SESSION OF THE SEMINAR SERIES ON PUBLIC POLICY)

The final night of the LISG Seminar Series featured guest lecturers on the Energy Industry, K-12 & Higher Education Policy & explored The Louisiana Budget. Made for some interesting interaction by the group. 

Featured lecturers included: 

Dr. Joseph Rallo- LA Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Jim Richardson- Chairman of the State Revenue Estimating Conference, Scott Richard- Executive Director of the LA School Boards Association, Sherry Guarisco- Executive Director of the LA Partnership for Children & Dr. David Dismukes- Executive Director of the LSU Center for Energy Studies.

All three meetings were very successful. The speakers were all outstanding and engaged the participants in very lively discussions.

BLUE COLLAR MILLIONAIRE TED IS NOT DEAD

THE ADVOCATE GOT IT WRONG, TED HICKS, BATON ROUGE’S BLUE COLLAR MILLIONAIRE ISN’T DEAD

In December 2015 an article in The Advocate Newspaper in Baton Rouge, La. reported Ted Hicks as being deceased:

“In 2004, now deceased developer, Ted Hicks offered to donate 150 acres on I-12 and O’Neal Lane to BREC if BREC wanted to relocate the Baton Rouge Zoo.” DEAD—Not.  Long-time friend Sheriff Sid Gautreaux sent him a text “Ted, is it hot or cold.”

There are several highly successful people in Baton Rouge but few of them are “blue collar.”  Ted Hicks is admittedly blue collar and his story is inspirational and encouraging to children born into poverty. The Rouge Collection sat down with Ted Hicks after finding out he was indeed still alive for an interview.

The second meeting of the Louisiana Independent Study Group (Public Policy Seminar Series) is scheduled for Tuesday night 1/26 at 6 pm. It will be held in the second floor Executive Boardroom of Business First Bank on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.

The confirmed guest lecturers will be: Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon, Public Service Commissioner & possible U.S. Senate candidate Foster Campbell, Executive Director of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana Roland Dartez, Executive Director of the Louisiana Budget Project Jan Moller and former Louisiana Hospital Association EVP & COO Sean Prados.
